Analysis ID 20
Analysis location “GENESIS” Centre for Medical Genetics
Diagnosed illness Breast/ovarian/prostate cancer – susceptibility to (NBS1 657del5)
Clinical information Alteration 657del5 in the NBS1 gene confers 2 times increased risk for breast cancer (occurs in 1% of all breast cancers), 4 times increased risk for prostate cancer (occurs in 3% and 9% of all sporadic and familial prostate cancers, respectively). The risk for prostate cancer is increased 15 times, when a first-degree relative is affected by prostate cancer.
